O'Flaherty Irish Music Youth Camp

Youth Sessions

If you live in the Dallas area, you might be interested in our Irish music sessions for young people.  We hold one every 6-8 weeks in someone’s home– they are free and are a chance for the kids to get together and play tunes that they learned at the camp or in their home practice.  It is a terrific opportunity for young people to get to know other young musicians, and to play music together in a friendly, low-stress setting. young people playing together in home

Youth Sessions for 2015-16 (held Friday evenings from 7-9:30 PM in central McKinney):
October 9
November 6
January 8
February 12
March 11
April 1

If your child hasn’t been to the Youth Camp before but would still like to participate in the sessions, they are most welcome! You can download some music from the Sheet Music and Audio pages for them, so they can learn some tunes before they come to their first session.  One can also just try to pick up a few notes of unfamiliar tunes in the session itself, but that can be quite intimidating if one has never done it before.  So most people will feel more confident if they come already having half a dozen tunes that they know they can play. Please feel free to contact us if you’d like recommendations of the most commonly played tunes at these sessions.

If you haven’t previously participated in the Youth Camp and you’d like to be added to our mailing list for these Dallas-area youth sessions, just fill out our brief sign-up form!
